Der Literaturhistoriker C.S. Lewis (1898-1963) betätigte sich in seinem Hauptberuf als Hochschullehrer in Oxford und später in Cambridge in einer erstaunlichen Vielfalt literarischer Gattungen. Nicht nur in seinen Essays, sondern auch in seinen fantastischen und mystischen Erzählungen kommt dabei seine tiefe christliche Überzeugung zum Ausdruck.
