Sonia Vagliano Eloy (1922-2002) was a lieutenant in the Free French Army during World War II. She received the Bronze Star and the Croix de Guerre and was made an officer of the Légion d'honneur. Her memoir, Les demoiselles de Gaulle, is based on a diary she kept during her service, official documents, and her personal correspondence.
