Carme Riera was born in 1948 in Palma de Mallorca. She is a prolific author who has written novels, essays, and has ventured into scriptwriting. A native of Barcelona, Josep Miquel Sobrer has translated a number of English titles into Catalan and has translated from Catalan into English Mercè Rodoreda's Broken Mirror and works by Pere Calders and others.
