Autorenporträt
Dr. LaVerne Jackson-Harvey has over thirty-five years of experience in K-12 and postsecondary education in counseling, advising, research, teaching, public speaking, and program design. She started writing her poetry at a late, but exciting time in her life. She has authored over 100 poems. She published two books of poetry entitled Life Circumstances and A Ray of Hope. She recently wrote a children's Book entitled Ruth and Her Hoots. She received her Bachelors Degree from Claflin University, Masters Degree from Bowling Green State University, and Doctorate from Marquette University. While employed at Marquette University, she founded The Night of Black Literature, a program that allowed students and staff to read their favorite poetry by African American authors. She has read her poetry at numerous events. She is the wife of Robert L. Harvey and the mother of three children, Dalila Granger, Rashida Harvey, and Gary Harvey. She was raised in Inman, South Carolina and lived in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. She currently resides in Charlotte, North Carolina.
