Autorenporträt
Farid Yaghini was born in Iran and fled to Pakistan with his family to escape religious persecution following the Islamic Revolution of 1979. At the age of nine, he immigrated to Canada as a refugee, carrying with him a deep sense of resilience, hope, and an irrepressible knack for finding humour, even in the most challenging moments. From 2002 to 2011, Farid served in the Canadian military, completing two deployments to Afghanistan. These experiences profoundly shaped his perspective on the impact of conflict and the importance of connection and healing. In 2016, Farid founded Camp Aftermath, a charity dedicated to supporting military personnel and first responders dealing with PTSD. His mission was not just to help others navigate their trauma, but to become a better father to his young daughter, transforming a life shaped by conflict into one of purpose, and love.Farid's writing is a powerful blend of raw honesty, humour, and resilience, capturing the complexity of life's hardships while reminding us of the moments that make it all worthwhile. His story is one of survival, transformation, and the enduring power of laughter and community.
