Fred Hord Life Sentences Fred Lee Hord (Mzee Lasana Okpara), full professor and Director of Africana Studies at Knox College, is Founder, past President and current Executive Director of the national Association for Black Culture Centers. He is the author of three previous volumes of poetry, Reconstructing Memory: Black Literary Criticism, and editor of Black Culture Centers: Politics of Survival and Identity. Hord also co-edited a college text on Africana philosophy with Jonathan Scott Lee entitled I Am Because We Are.
