Higher education has experienced an increase presence and role of females. Across all disciplines and careers, women are becoming leaders or leading which represents a change in higher education over a short period of time. Life history as a strategy was employed to explore, understand and assess experiences of female students towards their choice of higher education. Life Stages Theory emerged as a sequence of processes including exposures, influences, barriers and opportunities towards females choice of higher education. Applications of Life Stages Theory can be projected to career guidance, matriculation and student and learner assessments towards matching a person's life experiences with an appropriate pathway for higher education and career development.
