Autorenporträt
Diane C. Givens, a children's books author, was born in Long Branch, New Jersey but raised in Buena Vista, Georgia, by her maternal grandparents and a large extended family, following the death of her mother at age 2. Growing up in the care of her grandmother, Diane loved to play outside in the midst of her grandmother's flower beds. This activity sharpened her sense of curiosity greatly. It helped her to become in tune with her surroundings and significantly increased her creative reach. Diane was not afraid to feed her imaginations, most of which, she shared with her siblings and childhood friends during playtime. It was in that period that she developed a deep love for books, which she usually stayed up to read past bedtime with her grandmother. Those books opened her eyes to the world and life outside Buena Vista. Diane Givens started to write her own stories in middle school and she kept her writing journals carefully, through college as she studied various technical fields. Diane only started to openly share her stories after she had her own children. The fact that her kids loved the stories she shared with them, gave her the impetus to tow the self-publishing line, to share her gift with the rest of the world. Diane C. Givens currently lives in the suburbs south of Atlanta, GA with her husband where they raised their two sons.
