WHEN WRITER LESLIE J. THOMPSON LOST HER HUSBAND in an unforeseen tragedy, she processed her grief in prose. In private journal entries, blog essays, and social media posts, her paralyzing feelings of anguish and despair were matched only by her unwavering faith in God. Writing gave Leslie an outlet for the chaotic emotions triggered by loss, and her posts inspired others with her raw authenticity and resilience. Light on the Horizon is a collection of essays written over four years as Leslie's heart slowly healed. Beginning with the eulogy she read at her husband's funeral, she documents the journey from devastation to restoration in the wake of losing a spouse. Although deeply personal in nature, the essays offer timeless wisdom and incorporate universal themes of connection, courage, gratitude, and love. Collectively, they testify to the goodness of God, who gives beauty for ashes, and ignite renewed hope for those crushed in spirit.

Autorenporträt
Leslie J. Thompson spent the first three decades of her professional career writing for businesses large and small, both in the corporate world and as a freelance consultant. Through the years, she also has contributed to numerous regional and national publications and in 1999 launched an award-winning lifestyle magazine, marking her foray into entrepreneurship. Leslie later worked side by side with her husband, Craig Thompson, to start several companies related to media and technology, including a web design agency and an aerial videography business. After the death of her husband in 2018, Leslie shifted her focus from the secular world to speaking and writing about matters of faith. Her journey through the wilderness of widowhood and her active involvement in ministry solidified her calling to comfort others who have experienced tragedy or loss. She now uses her communication skills and passion for people to deliver a message of hope centered on the truth of God's unwavering goodness. Leslie has joined several mission trips to Latin America and for many years was involved in weekly prison ministry alongside her late husband. She is the founder of Living Bridge of Hope and lives in a cozy suburb north of Dallas, Texas.
