Sonja Hakala has been a professional writer since 1982 when her first story appeared in The Mother Earth News Magazine. Since then, her work has appeared in publications as varied at the Boston Globe, Yankee, and Vermont Magazine. She is the author of ten books and the editor of another. She lives on a river in Vermont in a place that bears a striking resemblance to town of Carding which is at the center of her novels.
