Linda Bradley, who had Down syndrome, was born at a time when children like her were less likely to be welcomed into the world with open arms. But that never kept her from wrapping her arms warmly around the world. She found joy in it, learned from it, and spent her time in it making friends. Produktbeschreibung
Linda Bradley, who had Down syndrome, was born at a time when children like her were less likely to be welcomed into the world with open arms. But that never kept her from wrapping her arms warmly around the world. She found joy in it, learned from it, and spent her time in it making friends. Linda simply loved her way through life by loving the people she met and leaving them better and happier because of it. This is her story from a distinct perspective. It opens with a sketch on the circumstances that greeted her on arrival in the 1950s and unfolds as a peek into the family life through which she prospered. But this book is, above all else, a lively sampling of the wit and warmth in Linda's big, bright personality. She found her place on this earth and gave it some of the innocence and caring and color it needed. And all of it comes through vividly and with heart, here in the pages of Linda. All proceeds from the sale of this book will be directed to organizations dedicated to serving the needs of adults with Down syndrome.
Autorenporträt
Rudy Schouten's work as a writer began many years ago in a corporate role, where he focused on developing sales and marketing material for a financial services group. He eventually applied those skills to a career as a freelance writer, providing communication services for small firms and not-for-profits. And in more recent years, Rudy's work as an independent has evolved away from the business side of things and into projects as a writer of non-fiction and biographical material. In addition to his feature stories for a local lifestyle magazine and articles for an Indy website documenting historic properties, Rudy has written three books: "Above the Waterline," a personal account of his family's immigration to the United States; "The Historic Memorial District of Downtown Indianapolis," a deep look into the origins and the footprint of Indy's notable collection of monuments and memorials; and "Linda - A Full, Happy Life," a heartfelt retrospective on his wife's late sister, who was born with Down syndrome in 1951. Her story is all about the love and the color she brought to those who were part of her life. Rudy, a native of the Netherlands, lives on the south side of Indianapolis with his wife Cindy, who is a Registered Nurse. They are proud parents of four children, all out living busy, happy lives with families of their own.
