Literary History entwirft in systematischer Geschlossenheit eine neue Literaturgeschichtsschreibung mit komparatistischer Perspektive. Die Beiträge der vier englischsprachigen Bände erproben neue Möglichkeiten eines "globalisierten" Literatur-Begriffs und schließen vergleichend die Literaturen aller Kontinente mit ein. Es ist der Versuch eines innovativen neuen Konzepts einer Vergleichenden Literaturwissenschaft. Die Bände gehen aus einem großen schwedischen Komparatistik-Projekt mit internationaler Besetzung hervor.
