Maya Hadar is a writer who lives in Jamaica Plain, a neighborhood in Boston, Massachusetts. She worked as a writer, editor, and Web designer for 28 years at the National Institutes of Health in Bethesda, Maryland. After moving back to her hometown in 2013, she took art classes and decided to work in collage. In addition to creating art, Maya enjoys traveling, photography, and music. She regularly walks the one and a half miles around Jamaica Pond, taking in the wonders of the pond and snapping pictures at all times and seasons. Maya lives with her husband, Giora, in Boston for most of the year. For much of the winter, they escape to Los Angeles to be near their son Oren, daughter-in-law Becca, and young grandchildren Avi and Mika, who inspired this story.
