At 11, he knew he wanted to become a journalist. At 55, he knows it was the right decision. Eric Willemsen (1970) worked as newspaper reporter and magazine editor in the Netherlands before settling as freelance journalist in Vienna in 2005. He has since covered breaking news from Austria for international TV and radio stations, including several elections, the fall of the Sebastian Kurz government, the coronavirus pandemic, and the Vienna terror attack. He also works as a sports writer specialised in Alpine skiing and handball. "LIVE FROM VIENNA" is Eric Willemsen's first book - or, actually, first since he was 16 and spent most of his summer at a typewriter, turning a blank scrapbook into a fully illustrated football album featuring every match of the 1986 FIFA World Cup.
