This book sets an attempt to identify the socio-economic conditions and the multiple assets that people use to achieve positive livelihood by studying their economic condition, land use pattern in terms of cultivation and livestock, and by assessing the present status of livelihoods using the five indicators of sustainable livelihood propounded by Ian Scoones. The study also map out the livelihood options, available land resources and the prevalent economic activities in Sikkim. It also look into the Rural Development Programmes and Government interventions that have been taken up so far, and a critical analysis of the policies in relation to the people of the Tashiding area in West Sikkim.
