In Andaman and Nicobar islands (India), livestock sector supplements the rural income, accelerates the food and nutritional security, and contributes to self reliance in the poverty reduction. To sustain the growth of livestock sector and the regional economy, adequate policy measures need to be established for appreciable growth in productivity and sustainability in the regional farm level and in the processing sectors. For the deduction of appropriate policy measures, the book presents current trends emerging from the production, consumption and future demand by means of scientific study and statistical predictions. Migration of people, tourism development, increase in population, urbanisation, increase in the income coupled with the adequate measures from the governments, the demand for livestock is on constant increase. To estimate the needs for future, the effect of price, income arising from livestock producers and other parameters that enhance the sustained supply of livestock products is presented. Using statistical methods, the demand and supply issues are predicted for the next two decades.
