Given the current environmental crisis, one of the reasons for which is the unsustainable way in which natural resources are exploited, actions and contributions that contribute to sustainable development are necessary. The aim of this study was to analyze the causes of forest degradation in the community of Munhino, in the municipality of Bibala, and, based on scientific and local knowledge, to contribute to sustainable forest management, taking into account the local social and economic reality. The methodological procedure thus included interview and questionnaire surveys, direct observation of the situation, interaction with the local population, as well as a literature review on the subject (legislation, reports/information from local authorities, academic works, magazines and documents from international entities and organizations).
