Autorenporträt
Sylvia O'Connor has overcome poverty and has made it her mission to help others do the same. She moved to Detroit from her small southern town in Louisiana to seek a better life. There, she got an education and started pursuing and accomplishing her dreams and goals. Her past has never determined her future. Though she has had some bumps and bruises in life, she knows something about going beyond her comfort zone and experiencing what is on the other side of moving on. O'Connor grew up in poverty in Southern Louisiana. Realizing she did not have a lot of positive role models to guide her, she contacted her aunt about moving to Detroit. Her first obstacle was that her aunt did not respond. O'Connor persisted and eventually received a one-way bus ticket, moved to Detroit, and attended college there. She later obtained a master's degree in administration from Central Michigan University and holds the following certi-fications: RHIA (Registered Health Information Administrator), CPMA (Certified Professional Medical Auditor, CCS (Certified Coding Specialist), and CRC (Certified Risk Coder). She became an adjunct professor in allied health at Davenport University at the Livonia, Warren, and Dearborn Height Campuses. She spent over thirty years working in health care where she became a whistleblower exposing health care fraud. A former volunteer at Woman's Hospital in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, O'Connor is currently an auxiliary member there. Sylvia's faith in God helps sustain her, and her motto is "If you will believe in yourself, you can achieve your dreams and goals." Sylvia O'Connor is the CEO of Sylvia O'Connor SOAR LLC. She now lives in the Baton Rouge area with her husband Johnny O'Connor, Sr.
