Being overweight creates a tremendous risk for diabetes. Lifestyle changes can prevent diabetes in 65% of those who are otherwise destined to suffer from this dreaded disease. Based on his successful treatment of thousands of diabetic patients for over 30 years, Dr. Boris Draznin has developed a practical and easy-to-follow plan that combines increased physical activity with critical dietary changes. His scientific expertise as one of the nation's leading diabetologists shines through in his descriptions of how body weight is regulated an what we can do to influence these regulatory mechanisms. Dr. Draznin's clinical experience is evident in his emphasis on practical advice that will inspire anyone motivated to live longer and healthier. For this revised and updated edition, Dr. Draznin has added significant new material, introducing many of the research advances in nutrition and weight management that have occurred since the book's original 2003 publication-advanaces that directly impact our understanding of key concepts such as weight regulation, energy expenditure, and how Americans learn to change the way they eat. Living with Diabetes will appeal to those who have or are at risk for diabetes, plus anyone interested in losing weight in a healthy and sustainable manner.
