1919. A fatal injury in the Great War cuts short Lou Crane's brilliant dancing career. At the funeral of his best friend, an acquaintance takes pity on him and gets him a position as a performing arts teacher in a remote town whose inhabitants are struggling to revive after the ravages of the bombings. Lou, with no hope for the future, reluctantly agrees. Between the walls of the small town hall's assembly hall he discovers that invisible presences are watching him: childhood ghosts who have been left behind, without understanding death or knowing how to leave the world of the living. Lou sets out to help them the only way he knows how: through the art of storytelling. He soon discovers that each of them has a price...
