This study aimed to determine the logical reasoning abilities of junior high school students and their performance in mathematics. Specifically, this study aimed to categorize the level of cognitive development of grade 10 students; determine the logical reasoning abilities namely proportional reasoning, controlling variables, combinatorial reasoning, probabilistic reasoning and correlation reasoning among the grade 10 junior high school students; determine whether there is a significant difference in students' logical reasoning abilities according to their gender; determine whether there is a significant difference in students' level of cognitive development according to their gender; and determine whether the achievement of the students in mathematics using TOLT significantly differ according to their level of cognitive development.
