Autorenporträt
Ian Robert Bell was born in Newcastle-upon-Tyne in 1955. He took a BA degree at Newcastle University in 1977 followed by an MA degree at York in 1979. Before becoming a full-time writer, he was a restorer of oil paintings by profession and worked between 1986 and 1999 restoring pictures for the museums and art galleries of the city of Sheffield where he now lives.
