From February 2004 until December 2007 the ComCoast project (Combined Fu- tions in Coastal Defence Zones) was carried out within the Interreg IIIB framework. Dr. Frank Ahlhorn, geboren 1971 in Brake/Unterweser, studierte an der Universität Oldenburg mit den Abschlüssen Diplom-Umweltwissenschaftler (1997) und Diplom-Mathematik (1999) und promovierte im Fach Physische Geografie (2008) an der Universität Kiel zum Thema Zukunft des Küstenschutzes im südlichen Nordseeraum.
