Riding 20,000 miles across increasingly tough terrain, Ewan and Charley chased their shadows through Europe, Ukraine, Kazakhstan, Mongolia, Russia, across the Pacific to Alaska, then down through Canada and America. As they travelled they documented their trip, taking photographs, and writing diaries by the campfire. Long Way Round is the result of their adventures - a fascinating, frank and highly entertaining travel book about two friends riding round the world together and, against all the odds, realising their dream.

Ewan McGregor, geb. 1971, ist einer der gefragtesten Schauspieler Hollywoods für die unkonventionellen "Helden-und-Anti-Helden"-Rollen. Er wuchs auf in Crieff, einer Kleinstadt in der Grafschaft Perthshire in Schottland, wo er eine glückliche Kindheit verlebte. Sein Onkel Denis Lawson, ein relativ erfolgreicher Schauspieler (kleinere Rollen u.a. in "Lost Hero" und der "Stars Wars"-Trilogie), ermunterte ihn, seinen Traum von der Schauspielerei zu verwirklichen. Nach einigen weniger erfolgreichen TV-Rollen gelang ihm der Durchbruch als Filmschauspieler in zwei Etappen: Zunächst 1994 mit der Komödie "Shallow Grave" (deutsch "Kleine Morde unter Freunden") und dann mit dem von der selben Crew verwirklichten "Trainspotting", in dem er den heroinsüchtigen Junkie Renton spielt. Endgültig weltbekannt wurde er durch die Rolle als Obi-Wan Kenobi in der ersten "Star-Wars"-Folge "Die dunkle Bedrohung". Ewan McGregor ist mit der Französin Eve Mavrakis verheiratet, mit der er zwei eigene Töchter und eine Adoptivtochter hat und in London lebt.
