Autorenporträt
Melissa Fowke, an American first-time author, decided to pursue her dream of writing a children's book based on her mother and father as children in Scotland. She is happily married to her husband Mike, living in California with their pets, Larry, Freddie and Ben. She is the youngest of 3 siblings. Her parents immigrated to the United States from Scotland in the 1950s and both instilled Scottish and Italian culture into her since she was a wee one. Her mother owned a fish 'n' chip / ice cream and candy shop in Broxburn and she used to tell Melissa the stories of her childhood. It is there where her mother met her father, John Dutton, a talented musician and member of the Blue Rhythm Orchestra, when she was older. They both had dreams of coming to America and eventually her father was sponsored by a nice couple from the states to become an American citizen in the 1950s. Her mother and father were married for 57 years and lived a beautiful love story building a life with family in America. Melissa hopes to keep their memory alive through Lucy's eyes as a child.
