What is BEAUTY? Why is beauty so difficult to define? I mean with constant visuals of flawless waif-like female images portrayed in pop culture, it's no wonder why many girls and women of color look in the mirror and see ugly or worse start to self-hate. Chantal S. Grayson wrote Love at First Sight: Positive Affirmations for Young Girls of Color, as a "call to action" book that affirms to young girls everywhere that it is okay to be self-aware and love ones' authentic inner and outward idiosyncrasies. I'am beautiful is my mantra. Although, the bullying epidemic is often talked about in a peer-to-peer context, (cyber, in school, or clubs) bullying is also an internal struggle many young girls face every day as they develop and start to define who they are. Having worked with thousands of young girls of color in the inner city, Chantal is regarded as on of the most influential African America woman, in the Los Angeles Metropolitan area. Since high school, she has received countless awards and accolades for her foresight and leadership work in underserved neighborhoods. Let's work together to improve the overall quality of life for young girls and women of color.
