Allene Symons is a former senior editor for Publishers Weekly. She has written articles, essays, book reviews, and columns for business and consumer magazines and newspapers, including the Los Angeles Times (book reviews and travel articles). She was a college instructor (Santa Ana College, PACE University, White Plains), and worked in bookstore management for Rizzoli International Bookstores (Costa Mesa branch). She has a bachelor's in philosophy from San Francisco State, and master's degrees from CSU Fullerton (journalism) and from Claremont Graduate University (History of Religions/Buddhism).
