Bill Pendergraft founded Environmental Media in 1988 to write and produce environmental education content. He designed and produced books, museum exhibits, photography and videos that led him on a continual journey to some of the most exotic and threatened terrestrial and marine areas of the world from South America to Australia to Micronesia. The diaries of his travels led to the evolution of his poetry, a response to the impacts of environmental degradation on humans and other living things. His second book of poetry, Love in the Age of Loneliness, describes his biophilia, the term coined by Harvard naturalist Edward O. Wilson to describe one's love of living things; plants, animals and people. His book shares his wide-eyed confrontation with environmental destruction and the loneliness that may be our response. He lives in the Northeast Kingdom of Vermont.

Bill Pendergraft is the author of environmental articles and photography for numerous environmental publications. He also coauthored North Carolina State Parks, A Niche Guide, and wrote and produced content for the US National Park Service, The Nature Conservancy, Discovery Education, National Institute of Environment Health Sciences, The Coastal Land Trust, US Bureau of Land Management, Heifer International, American Botanical Council, Grand Canyon National Park, NC Public TV, US Fish and Wildlife Service, Partnership for the Sounds, and others. Bill wrote and produced the television programs and series Journey of the Loggerhead, Seahouse, Oceans Alive, North American Biomes, Voices of Palau, Hiking Grand Canyon,Rain Forest Trek, American Grasslands, Freshwater Wetlands, The Yellow Hat, Nature Neighborhood, Faces of Change, Shorelines, American Grasslands, and others.
