When Jim Fisk started writing his friend's sister, Lyn, while he was stationed in Germany with the army, he had no idea he was communicating with the love of his life. What began as a pen-pal relationship blossomed into an almost twenty-year-long relationship, culminating in the loss of Lyn to leukemia. Love, Loss and Leukemia paints a picture of an incredible woman with an unshakeable resolve and undying commitment to her husband and three sons. This book is more than just a memoir. It's a real-life love story between two people who were destined to be together. Jim began writing this story as therapy to better understand why life is so unpredictable and the inability to save Lyn's life. Taking time off from his business to raise his sons he spent the time that their boys were in school, recalling their short but remarkable life together. This recounting of their incredible life together-the ups and downs, the losses and gains-keeps Lyn's memory alive while also pointing out the effects of this horrible disease. Readers will laugh and cry as they get lost in this tale of love, loss, and leukemia.
