Mark received his undergraduate degree in psychology and went on to receive his master's in counseling from West Virginia University. It wasn't until a copy of Linda Goodman's book Love Signs fell into his hands in 1979 that it was clear that astrology had the potential to be the fastest and most definitive map to the psyche. That map became the focus of Mark's career, when in 1982 he moved to Denver to meet Jungian astrologer John Joseph. The two opened Denver's premier astrological store, The Twelfth House, in 1989. The Twelfth House developed a reputation not only for its psychological approach to astrology, but also for its promotion of the ideal that spirituality is something that is guaranteed regardless of your beliefs about it - but being happy isn't. Thus, the slogan 'Inspiring the Human Adventure' became the store's trademark and a mantra that Mark believes is an integral part of being a good astrologer. Mark developed a training program for psychic readers, teaching them tools for dealing with people and respecting their roles, making the Twelfth House readers among the most trusted in the world. Subsequently, Mark's astrological classes and workshops enabled psychotherapists, psychiatrists, psychologists, and lay persons to become aware of astrology's ability to empower themselves and their clients. Those classes became the largest single gathering on psychological astrology that Denver had seen, and they're still being offered twice a year. In July of 1998, Mark designed the Twelfth House Website (12house.com), which was recognized for its psychological approach to astrology, accessible to both lay-people and professionals.
