Autorenporträt
My grandfather was a sharecropper a few miles outside Clarksdale, Mississippi, and I, along with numerous other family members, grew up in his house. I am the storyteller of this great history of a people who faced poverty, problems, and prejudice. But they were survivors who were strong and self-reliant. They believed in hard work and and had an unquenchable faith in God. And, my, what magnificent stories they have! On a typical Monday morning you will find me at the golf course with some of my friends playing a relaxing round of golf. When I was about 12 I took up golf, and my love for the game has grown. By the time I was in the 8th grade I was a professional caddy having gone to caddy school in Lincoln, Nebraska. When I was about five or six, I began drawing. My drawings show a wide variety of interests including history, golf, and wildlife. Although I have used pen and ink and acrylic, I prefer using watercolor as my medium. Over the years I have volunteered with the Searcy school system teaching art to elementary students and in the gifted and talented program. Since 1978 I have been pastor of Park Avenue Baptist Church in Searcy, Arkansas. I have a total commitment to Jesus Christ, a love of people, and a heart for service. My wife, Rita, and I have two children, Kevin and Lisa, and a granddaughter, Gracie.
