Jaya started writing stories and poems for young adults about 20 years ago. He then tried writing children's picture books during the Covid-19 lockdown, March 2020. His first book, Fru Fools Greedy Hoo! was accepted for publication in October 2020. This motivated him to write more. Lovlee and Huggy Save Happy Town! was soon completed and what fired him towards early completion of this work was his love of giants from previous stories.
