Born with Autism, Lucy could not understand much of what was said around her. As an adult she still barely speaks. But her ambition was to write a book. Through writing at high school she started to understand her own autism. She eventually came to type on a computer with no physical support to complete her BA (Hons) in Literary Studies.

Lucy Blackman was born in Melbourne, Australia. Between 1987 and 1993, the years in which several of these stories are set, she divided her time between the Mornington Peninsula which backs onto the Great Southern Ocean, and the city suburbs. Lucy now lives in Brisbane, Queensland.
