Dr. phil. Ludwig Merkle, geboren 1928 in München, Studium der Zeitungswissenschaft und Germanistik an der Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität. Tätig als Redakteur, dann freier Journalist und Schriftsteller. Zahlreiche Publikationen, von denen viele sich auf die eine oder andere Weise mit Bayern befassen. Der Autor verstarb 2003.
