Gianni Celati is a writer. He received a Ph.D. in English literature for his thesis about James Joyce, and he has translated authors such as Jonathan Swift, Mark Twain, and Herman Melville to Italian. His books include Comiche and Parlamenti buffi. He won the Viareggio prize in 2006.
