Commonly, lung cancer cases were been detected at late stages III and IV. Early screening for lung cancer will reduce the risk of the development of lung cancer. The incidence of diagnosed lung cancer in Malaysian patients aged less than 40 years of age is relatively low at approximately 6.2%. (Liam, Lim & Wong, 2000). A study has been done at International Islamic University Malaysia, Kuantan (IIUMK) but the study only focus on medical school students, so we decided to do a study among nurses in the Oncology area to determine the knowledge and perception level of lung cancer and its screening among oncology nurses to improve the strategy in reducing this numbers of lung cancer in Malaysia.
