Mattram is a Chinese novella written by Noble prize winner Mo-yan and directly translated from Chinese to Tamil by Payani. This book is a biography in the form of novella or novella in the form of biography. Author proves that he can record the historical changes just observing the life of his closest people. Writer Mo-Yan has recorded the changes that happened in China through his childhood friend's life experiences. He creates world with facts and factious along with historical, social insights. His writing remains William Faulkner and Gabriel Garcia Marquez. At the same time it identifies the deviating point from olden Chinese literature. Su.Ra says in one of his articles "Dew drop can reflect Palm trees but in smaller form" In this novella demonstrates the dimensions of changes in smaller form and Mo-Yan has created a space to wonder it's magnificence by ourselves. He wrote about Village school in North east China. That school reflects the Cultural Revolution but that school is no different from our village schools. Every reader can relate themselves to the characters of the story which is proof of a successful translation.
