Like any other canton in Chad, Madiago Canton has suffered the effects of the administrative and territorial reforms undertaken in Chad. The immediate result of the administrative reforms was the splitting of Madiago Canton into several administrative units, which brought the administration closer to the people. The realization of school and health infrastructures, administrative buildings, urbanization and sanitation works, water towers and boreholes improve the living conditions of the inhabitants of the Madiago canton. Each sub-prefecture benefits from a local development plan enabling it to negotiate funding. In addition, the canton chief loses his political and economic power to the benefit of the new actors on the political scene who are the sub-prefects and the mayors of the communes. His territorial jurisdiction has been modified.
