The CMR phenomenon in DL Manganites is intriguing to study. Known for their complexity in the crystal structure, the DL manganites exhibit magnetoresistance at low magnetic fields and show various types of electrical conduction behavior. Particularly, La-based DL manganites are studied because of their low field magnetoresistance at relatively higher transition temperatures. In the present study, transport and magnetic properties of Ca/Ba doped La-based DL manganite were investigated in an attempt to enhance magnetoresistance and transition temperature. The ultrasonic sound velocity measurements were also done to know the changes occurring near the transition temperature. Further, the room temperature elastic constants were also determined to estimate the mechanical strength of the materials.
