Produktbeschreibung
The book presents an overview of zoonoses in Burkina Faso and the One Health approach as an integrated strategy for the control of diseases impacting on public and animal health. Interviews based on multisectorality and transdisciplinarity were conducted involving human health, animal health, environment and wildlife professionals, communities, and in particular the professional organisations of producers and processors of animal products. Several major zoonoses such as anthrax, tuberculosis, brucellosis, rabies and dengue fever were found to be present in the geographical areas covered by the study. The risk factors for the transmission and spread of these zoonoses are linked, inter alia, to animal husbandry practices, feeding behaviours, processing and distribution techniques of food of animal origin. The participatory approach adopted made it possible to identify priority areas for intervention, the improvement of key indicators of which would strengthen the prevention, monitoring and response to zoonoses.
