Malaria has been reported to affect approximately 300 million people worldwide and 103 endemic countries. A recession in the Near point of convergence (NPC) leads to convergence insufficiency which leads to high exophoria at near and asthenopic symptoms. This study was a prospective experimental research study, carried out to determine the effect of malaria on the near point of convergence among adults aged 18 to 30 years in State Staff Clinic Uyo, Akwa ibom State. A total number of hundred (100) symptomatic patients; 50 males and 50 females were used for this study.

Dr Onwukwe Nnaemeka Alvan¿d is a university lecturer, a researcher and a public speaker. He holds a Doctoral Degree in Optometry(OD), Master¿s Degree in Public Health(MPH) and PhD in Public Health. He also holds a Degree in Advanced Biblical Studies. He is currently the Head, Department of Optometry, Madonna University Nigeria.
