Co-infection of hosts by multiple parasites is common across a diverse range of systems. Two of the most prevalent types of human infection in the developing world are malaria and intestinal helminthes. This book aimed to help medical and medical laboratory students to understand co-infection between malaria and schistosomiasis. The book covers topics related to malaria, schistosomiasis, epidemiology of co-infection, immune consequences of co-infection and impact of co-infection on anemia. Besides, the book focuses on practical part related so as to give the students idea and knowledge about schistosomiasis diagnosis by using direct microscopical examination and Kato-Katz technique and malaria diagnosis by using stained blood films and immune-chromatographic test.
