Autor

Author LaRue Palmer is a career chef turned health coach, with a particular interest in advocating for men's health and wellness. He also has a background in diabetes self-management, which ties in to his passion for helping men create optimal health for themselves as they age. Diabetes is a lifestyle diseases, and it's co-morbidities include symptoms and conditions common to aging men such as obesity, high blood pressure, and heart disease just to name a few. During the writing of Man Cave of Health, LaRue was diagnosed with Stage 1 bladder cancer. In November 2020, in the midst of the COVID pandemic, instead of hiding in his man cave LaRue followed his own advice when he started experiencing abnormal urinary symptoms, and found a way to connect with his healthcare provider via videoconference. He was able to coordinate an accurate diagnosis of his condition, and arrange for surgery within five days of being diagnosed. His was a prime example of what to do when life throws you a challenge and instead of ignoring it, he faced it head on. He is now in remission after recovering nicely from his ordeal, and is the picture of health and vitality which belies his 68 years!
