Public concern about a "value-based" business environment is growing, and thus, the prevailing system of managerial conduct is seriously questioned. The rising awareness of social responsibility in society calls for a rethinking in terms of working conditions provided to employees. Against this background, this dissertation examines the extent to which the principles of social responsibility towards employees are integrated into management consulting companies, and whether the overall well-being of the individual is taken into consideration in pursuit of a concerted work-life balance. Moreover, the researcher explored whether the management consulting business is designed in terms of work-life balance to provide for beneficial long-term employment. To this end, the determinants of the management consulting business are illustrated and critically assessed in detail, including both investigation on employer heedfulness with regard to specific needs and private circumstances of workforce and consideration of thoroughly reflected, social-oriented guidelines that allow for congenial and obliging labour conditions.
