The retail sector, specifically the hardware business has had a very noticeable growth in recent years, large chains have a share of only 12%, while medium and small hardware businesses dominate 88% of the market. In addition, the latter is observed to make their decisions based on their empirical experience, the control of their sales and stocks are carried out manually. The general problem posed in this research is: How do management information systems affect the business management of hardware stores in the city of Huaraz? Which was approached starting from the general hypothesis: Management information systems have a limited impact on the efficiency of business management in Peruvian hardware stores. And the specific hypotheses are: Management information systems in Peruvian hardware stores use manual and non-computerized processes. The business management in Peruvian hardware stores, is guided by experience and keep track of their sales only with a sales notebook.
