This research provides an overview of the oil and gas drilling waste management in Vietnam and other countries and explores appropriate treatment technologies to manage drilling wastes. The main two types of drilling wastes treated were Drill Cuttings and Drilling muds. The author would appreciate feedback from industry and researchers on the use they have made of this research, and any other guidelines or assistance needed, as input to the research to further enhance the environmental performance of the oil and gas industry.

The Author Nguyen Ba Loc is HSE Manager for HSE Division, PVEP in Vietnam. Mr. Loc has been with PVEP for 10 years as a drilling engineer and a HSE Officer. He holds bachelor degree in geology (drilling) technology in Vietnam and master degree in Environmental Engineering and Management in AIT, Thailand. He can be reached at locnb1@yahoo.com.
