Maxillary canine is the third tooth from the midline, positioned between frontal and lateral zone. It is exposed to tremendous masticatory pressure and located in the smile zone and also known as the corner stone of the mouth. Impaction of maxillary canines is a frequently encountered clinical problem. Impaction is a retardation or halt in the normal process of tooth. To cope adequately with the problems of tooth impaction requires early diagnosis. The clinician should consider the various treatment options available for the patient, including no treatment, interceptive treatment, extraction of the impacted canine, auto-transplantation of the canine, surgical exposure and orthodontic alignment. This book is an attempt to throw light on various aspects of impacted teeth, including their prevalence, etiology, diagnosis, treatment timing, surgical exposure techniques, orthodontic mechanotherapy and prognosis.
