This book addresses issues related to the management of the teaching career in the face of the aging of the Brazilian population, seeking to understand how higher education teachers manage their careers when on the verge of retirement. The results were analysed and discussed in the light of the theoretical foundations presented in this study, which point to three types of teaching careers: the teacher/professional, the professional/teacher and the teacher/teacher. This work is the result of the thesis judged and approved for obtaining the title of Doctor of Business Administration, granted by the University of Fortaleza.
