A management strategy aimed at developing research training within the professional training of students of the Bachelor's Degree in Tourism is presented, taking into account the importance of this university training component. The historical tendencies of the formative process are revealed and characterized from the psychological, pedagogical and didactic points of view, establishing a diagnosis in the University Center of the Nuevitas Municipality. It is proposed a strategy with academic, labor and research dimensions that contributes to achieve in the student research competences that make possible to diagnose, intervene and transform local problems related to the tourist activity. The relations of the research training process with the other university training processes and the need for greater integration and systematization to achieve competent professionals from the research point of view are analyzed.
