ThegoaloftheDSOMworkshopsistobringtogetherresearchers intheareasofnetwork,systems,andservicesmanagement,frombothindustry andacademia,todiscussrecentadvancesandfosterfuturegrowthinthis?eld. Incontrasttothelargermanagementsymposia,suchasIM(IntegratedMa- gement)andNOMS(NetworkOperationsandManagementSymposium),the DSOMworkshopsareorganizedassingle-trackprogramsinordertostimulate interactionamongparticipants. ThefocusofDSOM2002is Makinge-commerceande-businessapplications successfulthroughmanagement. Ase-commerceande-businessapplications growtobeaprominentpartofday-to-daybusiness,managementtechnologies thatsupportthemgaininimportance. Thepaperspresentedattheworkshop addresstheunderlyingtechnologiesthatarekeytothesuccessofe-commerce ande-businessapplications,assuringqualityofservice,securityandtrust,e- to-endservicemanagement,andubiquity. Thisyearwewerefortunatetoreceive40high-qualitypapersfrom15co- tries,ofwhich16wereselectedforthe5technicalsessions.
